Summary:
Dr. Myung Ju Lee was invited as a panel speaker in the revision rhinoplasty session at the 59th Fall Conference of the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. In his lecture, he introduced several new surgical concepts for correcting overall nasal asymmetry and tip deformities that can occur after primary rhinoplasty.
One of the primary challenges in revision rhinoplasty is the lack of a systematic classification for common postoperative issues such as asymmetry, depressions, variations in nostril size, or columellar deformities. To address this problem, Dr. Lee proposed a novel method for categorizing nasal deformities based on four essential supporting structures of the nose. He then introduced specific surgical approaches tailored to each category.
By establishing this classification system, Dr. Lee significantly contributed to the advancement of revision rhinoplasty, offering surgeons a more organized framework for diagnosing and correcting complex nasal deformities.
