Conference: 60th Meeting of the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons
Date: May 11–13, 2006
Venue: BEXCO (Haeundae Convention Center), Busan

Summary:
During the 60th Meeting of the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, Dr. Myung Ju Lee presented on the use of rib cartilage for challenging nasal deformities—such as post-infection complications, severely upturned noses, or underdeveloped nasal structures. As this is a highly advanced aesthetic procedure, correcting all issues simultaneously without leaving visible scarring is of paramount importance.

Dr. Lee highlighted certain common problems encountered in rib cartilage rhinoplasty at some clinics, including:

  1. Significant scarring at the rib cartilage harvest site
  2. Partial reliance on rib cartilage alongside silicone implants
  3. Persistent deformities despite the use of rib cartilage

In response, Dr. Lee unveiled his research findings on a new scar-minimizing rib cartilage harvesting technique, a surgical method that eliminates the need for silicone implants, and a comprehensive approach enabling the correction of multiple nasal deformities in a single operation. His presentation attracted wide interest and positive feedback for offering a more advanced and holistic solution in rib cartilage rhinoplasty.
